Baseball Divisions

Little League (Major League)
At the Little League level, all games are kid pitch, all games are played following Little League rules, and all games are called by a professional umpire. Standings are kept and teams compete in an end-of-season round-robin tournament to determine the Little League champion for the season.

At this level, All Stars are selected by coaches and peers for additional play in competitive postseason tournaments.

AAA (Minor League) - Aka "Player Pitch"
At the AAA level, players are from age 9-10.  All games are kid pitch, all games are played following Little League rules with some ground-rule exceptions, and all games are called by junior umpires trained by Rutland's Umpire in Chief. Standings are kept and teams participate in a single-elimination tournament at the conclusion of the season to determine the AAA champion.

At this level, All Stars are selected by coaches and peers for additional play in competitive postseason tournaments.

AA (Minor League) - Aka "Coach Pitch"
The AA division is instructional in nature, but is designed to transition young players from Tee Ball to Little League baseball. Players (ages 6-8) continue to learn the fundamentals skills of baseball. AA players play coach-pitched games throughout the year, however it is recommended to switch from live coach pitching to the Tee after 5-7 pitches to keep the game moving and to maintain the hitter’s confidence.

Using the Tee during some practice sessions will reinforce the value of the Tee, and keep it from becoming synonymous with defeat. Player pitching is not taught at the AA level, however some coaches may start to introduce it at the middle to end of the season, especially with the second year players.

Tee Ball
Tee Ball is an instructional program designed to introduce young players (ages 4-6) to baseball. Tee Ball players are taught the fundamental skills of baseball, however they should not begin pitching or see any live pitching at this level. Tee Ball players hit only from the Tee for the entire season.

Intermediate Little League
A transitional program using a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. Age 13 only

Junior Little League
A transitional program using a 60-foot, 6 inches pitching distance and a conventional 90-foot diamond. Ages 13-14

Senior LIttle League
The Senior League Division uses a 60-foot, 6 inches pitching distance and a 90-foot diamond. Ages 15-16
